Oregon Trail portraits
In the Oregon trail unit we have done many activities along the way but one of the best ones would be drawing our trail family's portraits. We had to draw our trail family, our live stock, and our wagon. For me it was the best project because I personally like to draw. I don't think any of them were bad because they were all very good and pretty. They had to be detailed and colored nicely. We get an amount of points that we move along the trail. If we do a very good job then the most points we an get is 20 points. That 20 points goes on so that we move along the trail and do more activities and faits. Faits are bad and good but mostly bad things that happen yo you along the trail. Sometimes we write in journals and that is 10 points at most. Also we sometimes have to make decisions about what trail should we take, do we want to trade with Native Americans, and should we get more water and go of the trail? Those are all things or activities that are very fun along the Oregon trail.

What a fun way to learn history! I especially like how you were asked to make decisions along the trail; those pioneers were hardy souls to be sure, and this activity gives you an idea of their challenges. The drawing above was very nicely done; could you post some more drawings? I would love to see them.
